Balsam Lake Provincial Park

Balsam Lake is kind of shocking once you realize how big this place really is, it seems so small on the map.

Becci was looking for some more hiking gear so we got her a new hat! Maybe she can explain it but she just seemed to love these trees and ran over to them. Again, it is a highlight to my day to see Becci get excited and simply smile.

I saw Afro puffs!, being a woman who has always struggled with frizzy curly hair (until I cut it all off) it felt like I could wear my hair up in two large puffballs if I still had the curl. It is a fashion statement, hence the leg.

Then to demonstrate that we are true explorers we got Becci a pair of socks that states it as a fact. When we left I’m not sure I was fully awake, I didn’t bring my hiking boots and I was wearing sockets. Not exactly trail attire, thankfully the socks in the park store are knee high and encouraged us to get out there and experience the outdoors.

We checked out the Eco-Sites here and they seem very interesting, we started the trails from that spot and just left the car behind and kept walking. There were some really cool locations that gave you an opportunity to look out over the landscape. We walked most of the trails and they were very nice day, so I would imagine we will end up back here at some point to see the rest and to stay the night.
