It was a beautiful on the homestead trail when this Rose breasted Grosbeak graced us with it’s song. The Grosbeak was just singing away as many other birds call in the distance, you can even hear a woodpecker in the background. Birds calling in the early spring mornings are just wonderful and amazing to hear them all.
To get the opportunity to sit and listen to a nice bird like this call is an amazing experience. We were able to watch the Grosbeak for a while as it continued to return and sing for us. The Rose breasted Grosbeak is a fairly common bird but very new to us. We have had them come to our backyard to eat sunflower seeds from our feeders. The male grosbeak is black and white with a bright red triangle on his breast. The female is darker, mostly brown and white with a faded yellow on her breast.
This video was taken at Point Pelee National Park during the annual spring migration Festival of Birds. This was one of our first birding hikes we went on and it was incredible.
