I have been looking at this park online and wanted to see it. It was not a disappointment, it was a great place.
After bailing on the mosquito spawning ground which is Mississagi we made it to Awenda. We didn’t stay long, just one night, it was raining in the morning so we just headed home.
This place was just what the doctor ordered after running from Mississagi.
It was exactly that, Awenda is picturesque. We managed to secure one evening here, it was booked solid and we were happy to have the night. It was a big change from Mississagi to Awenda, we were able to sit outside without bugs. I’m sure they were there but the turmoil we endured the night before made us immune to the tiny little bugs that were flying about compared to the armoured mosquitoes that are Mississagi. We did not really leave the campsite, we stayed in the Snake campground which boasts quiet. There are no radios, generators or animals permitted, the comfort station was just up the road from our site and we took advantage. We showered and sat comfortably, we ate, made a fire and went to bed early. It was unfortunate to wake up and realize the day would be a bit of a bust, as we really want to explore this park. It is nice, just being us, we can cut out if it is not working for whatever reason.
It will have to wait for another day and this time we will plan and book in advance for a few days at Awenda so we can check out the trails, see the park and hear those birds. I would take our site again, it was a very relaxing space.
