Barred Owl spotted at St John’s Conservation Area!

We were shocked to see the Barred owl at St Johns. St Johns Conservation Area is a perfect place to hike near us. After our extended trip to Point Pelee National Park we decided to continue with our idea to explore Ontario. St Johns being so close seemed like a good spot for a day hike as it’s another great location for hiking trails in Ontario. Immediately as we began hiking the trails at St Johns we started hearing a warbler, as new birdwatchers we got excited. We didn’t get the chance to see it this day but we did see a couple other awesome birds. On the Tulip Tree Trail we spotted some movement in the tops of the trees. Birds are difficult to spot as they are camouflaged very well. The Barred Owl is no exception. We were lucky enough that the owl stayed for a while and we were able to observe it. On the Sassafras trail we spotted a Scarlet Tanager. Although it is brightly coloured red it is also difficult to spot. We will continue our exploration and birding adventures in all Ontario parks so please subscribe to see where we go next.
