At this point we were thoroughly enjoying watching ducks and other waterfowl so one of our first purchases to enjoy this viewing was a scope. We got the Celestron 80mm scope and it’s not exactly top of the line but it’s a reasonable price for starting out.
Using the Celestron Scope
The beauty of a scope like this is you can set it up on the shore and get a great view of many birds. It’s easiest when the birds are ducks because they have the tendency to just sit there and if you are not disturbing them you can get a great look. To be able to take some photos and video using the scope we got ourselves a cell phone mount for the viewing lens. To use it in any reasonable way you must get a tripod for it, trying to hold something like this and zoom in is practically impossible.
